Find anything with search

The search box in the middle of the header finds what you're looking for from any page, so you don't need to know where it lives. Anyone signed in can use it.

Search

Click the box, or press / on your keyboard from anywhere (except while you're typing in a text box). Type two letters or more, and what matches shows under the box as you type, grouped by kind. Pick a match to open it.

• Pages of the community you're in (on a page outside any community, the one the side navigation shows), by their name or what they're for, so "ban" finds Moderation and "kick" finds SL groups. Your account's pages too, like Account settings.
• People in the community you're in, by display name or username, and its SL groups, Roles, Teams, Moderation cases, Forms, Events and Rental units, and its Estates and regions and Parcels by name. A parcel opens the Estates page filtered to it.
• Records in a roleplay community, if you may see them: characters by name, vehicles by plate, make, model or color, properties by name, and reports by title. Your own report drafts show; other people's don't.
• Communities you belong to, by name.
• Help guides, which open in the help panel beside the page.

Search only finds what you can already see. If you can't see Moderation, search shows you no cases, and people you can't look up don't show. Searches aren't written to the audit log.

Use the keyboard

• / goes to the search box.
• Down arrow moves from the box to the matches, and the arrow keys move along them.
• Enter in the box opens the first match; on a match, it opens that one.
• Esc closes the list.

On a narrow screen, like a phone, the search box is a magnifying glass in the header. Tap it to open the box.

Get help on any page

The ? in the header, next to the bell, opens the help panel at the side of the page. It shows the guide for the page you're on and has Contact Civitas for anything the guides don't answer. See Ask Civitas for help.
