Change parcel settings
See the parcels on your estates and change their About Land settings, one parcel at a time or many at once, after a preview, save sets of settings to use again, and give people parcel access by themselves.
You need permission to see estates (estates.view) to see parcels on the Estates page, and to change parcel settings (estates.parcels) to read and change them.
The Estates page (under Second Life) lists the parcels on your community's estates under their regions. A region's parcels show once a Region Monitor there has read them, which it does when it starts, once a day and when you ask on In-world objects.
Find parcels
Press the arrow beside a region to show its parcels, or type part of a parcel's name in the box above the list to show only the parcels that match, wherever they are. Clicking a parcel on the map opens its card with its size, prims and access, and any rental units on it (see Add your estates and regions). Click a parcel's name to see its settings, grouped as SL's About Land window groups them: About, Access, Options, Media and sound and Objects.
The Region Monitor sees only some settings (the name, description, group, who may build and run scripts, flying, access and a few more). The rest say Not read yet until the community's bot reads them: choose the parcels and press Read from SL. The bot goes to each region, reads every setting and leaves. It reads the parcel's allowed residents and ban list too, which show by name under the settings. If SL didn't send a list, the parcel's sheet says so; press Read from SL to try again. A list with nobody on it says that.
Change one parcel or many
- Tick the parcels in the list, or turn on Choose parcels on the map at the top of the page and click them there. Choose all shown ticks every parcel the list shows. To change just one, you can also open it and press Change settings….
- Press Change N parcels….
- Tick each setting to change and choose what it becomes. Settings you don't tick stay as they are on every parcel.
- Press Preview. It shows each parcel's value now, as far as Civitas knows, and what it will be. Parcels that already have the settings are marked Already set and are left alone.
- Press Change in SL.
If a parcel has a rented unit on it (see Rentals), it's marked Rented, and Civitas asks before changing it, since its tenant may notice.
Saved sets
Settings you use again and again, such as those for a rental unit, can be saved as a set. When you change parcels, tick the settings and press Save as a set…, then give it a name, such as "Rental unit".
To use a set, choose parcels and press Change N parcels…, then pick the set at the top: its settings are ticked, set as saved, and you can change any of them before you press Preview. Under Saved sets on the page, Use on N parcels… does the same for the parcels you've chosen. To change what a set sets, pick it, change the ticks, and press Update the set. Under Saved sets, each set lists the settings it sets, one to a line, with what each becomes. Rename a set by typing a new name there. Deleting a set doesn't change any parcels.
How the bot makes the changes
SL changes a parcel only for someone in its region, so the community's bot goes to each region in turn, changes its parcels, reads each one back to check, and leaves. It needs to be an estate manager there, or own the parcel, or hold the group's land abilities on group land. Changes send no messages, so they don't count toward your daily message limit.
What the bot did lists each read and change. Anything SL didn't change is listed there with the parcel, such as a group the bot isn't in. Each change goes in the audit log, from the bot for the person who asked, with the parcel's settings before and after.
Give parcel access by themselves
Lists of actions that run by themselves, like a form's decisions, the tenancy actions on the Rentals page or the warning rule on the Moderation page, can include Give parcel access. Choose the parcel, and the bot puts the person the list runs for on its allowed list (About Land, Access). It needs the Change parcel settings permission, held by whoever changed the list last, and it doesn't count toward the daily message limit.
The bot reads the parcel's list first. If they're on it already, it changes nothing and What the bot did says so. SL keeps up to 300 people on a parcel's allowed list; once it's full, the bot can't add anyone until someone is taken off in SL.
Joining and dividing parcels are done in SL.
