Ban someone from an SL group

A ban keeps someone out of the group: they can't join again until they're unbanned.

Ban a member

1. Go to SL groups, open the group, and stay on Members.
2. Press Ban… beside the person.
3. Say Why, for the ban list and the audit log, and press Ban.

The bot ejects them from the group in SL and adds them to its ban list. Ban… doesn't show beside the group's owners or Civitas's bot. When it's greyed out, point at it to see why.

See who's banned

The Ban list tab lists who's banned, when, and why. It shows once the bot has Manage ban list in the group, which it needs to read the list and change it.

To take someone off the list, press Unban beside them. They can join again, but aren't invited back.

When SL's ban list is full

SL's ban list holds 500 people. Once it's full, Civitas keeps new bans itself, so you can go on banning people.

• The ban shows on the Ban list with Kept by Civitas.
• SL doesn't know about it, so it can't stop them joining. Instead, whenever Civitas sees them in the group again, the bot ejects them. Civitas reads the roster of a group with bans it keeps every hour.
• When SL's list has room again (someone is unbanned), Civitas moves the bans it has kept longest onto it.
• Unban takes a kept ban off at once, with nothing to send to SL.

A ban from a moderation case works the same way in every group it covers. Estate bans don't depend on the group's list.

Ban from all your groups and Discord at once

The group's page bans people who are in the group. To ban someone who isn't a member, or to ban them from several of your groups and your Discord server at once, ban them from a moderation case. See Ban someone.
