Put an event board in SL
Get CMTY's ready-made event board, put it out in SL, and show your next public events there with their pictures.
You need permission to manage events (events.manage) and to manage in-world objects (objects.manage). The event board comes with Communications.
An event board is a ready-made object from CMTY, Civitas's bot: a frame with 5 panels. It shows a community's next 5 public events, each with its picture, when it is (in SLT) and where. Private events, and events for certain teams only, never show.
Get the board
- Go to In-world objects and press Send me a board on the Event board card.
- CMTY offers you the board in SL. Accept it.
- Put it out on land you own or manage. It starts working straight away.
Sending it doesn't count toward your community's daily limit. You can put out as many copies as you like, but not give it away.
Which community it shows
The board is the same for every community. When you put it out, it finds the communities where you manage events and Communications is on:
- One community: it shows that community's events.
- Two or more: it asks you in a menu which one to show. Only you, its owner, get the menu.
To show another community later, touch the board and choose Choose community. If you can no longer manage events in the community it shows, it stops showing them and says so; touch it to choose again.
To find out who owns it, the board sends CMTY a message in SL when it's put out. SL tells CMTY who owns the object, so nobody can set up a board as you.
How it shows your events
Each panel shows one event, soonest first: its picture on every side, and its title and time above it. A board changes a few seconds after anyone changes an event on the website, and moves on by itself when an event ends.
Pictures
The board shows the picture you upload for an event. Civitas's bot uploads it to SL for you when you add it to a public event, while your community has an event board. Each community can send up to 50 pictures to SL a day. An event without one, or whose picture came before your first board, shows its parcel's picture from SL instead, or a gray calendar when the parcel has no picture either.
What happens when someone touches it
Touching an event opens a menu with its time and place:
- Teleport me takes them straight to the event's place, where the land allows the Civitas experience. SL asks them once to accept the Civitas experience; after that, they're teleported without being asked again. Where the land doesn't allow it, or if they say no, they get a link in local chat, where only they see it, which opens their viewer's teleport.
- Event page gives them the link to the event's page on the website, while your community's public page is on.
Touching elsewhere on the board lists the events to choose from. Nothing is sent by a bot, so it doesn't count toward your daily limit.
On In-world objects, each board says under its name whether its land allows the Civitas experience. To allow it on your land, add the Civitas experience in About Land, Experiences (or ask the estate manager to allow it for the region).
Keep it up to date, or turn it off
When a newer board is out, the board shows Update available and tells its owner in SL. Press Send me a board again and put the new one out instead of the old one.
A board that has been deleted in SL can't say so. When Civitas hasn't heard from one for over an hour, it shows Not seen for a while. Click its name and press Disable… to take it off the list of working boards.
To turn off one board, click its name under Objects and press Disable…. Its owner can bring it back by taking it and putting it out again.
A board Civitas hasn't heard from in 14 days drops off the list. If it's put out again, it shows again.
Updated
