Add your estates and regions

The Estates page shows all your community's land in one place: SL's map at the top, then one list with each estate, its regions, and each region's parcels. Estates is a paid module in the Community suite: if you don't see the page, turn it on on the Billing page (see Pay for your community).

Add an estate

1. Go to Estates and press Add an estate.
2. Type the Estate name your community knows it by, and press Add estate.

The name is only for Civitas: the estate keeps its name in SL. To change it later, press the pencil (Rename) on the estate's row.

Add its regions

1. On the estate's row, press + (Add a region).
2. Type the Region name as SL shows it, and press Add region.

You only need to add one region per estate: Civitas finds the others by itself (see below). Civitas looks the region up on SL's map, so a name SL doesn't know is refused. Each region can be on one of your estates at a time. Click a region's name to open its page, where you can see who's there, restart it and send it a message (see Restart a region and send region messages).

Regions Civitas finds by itself

SL doesn't give anyone a list of an estate's regions, so Civitas finds them in two ways, once the bot has checked the estate:

• Region Monitors: a region with one of your community's Region Monitors in it joins the estate it's on by itself.
• Next door: the bot looks at the regions next to the estate's regions on SL's map, goes into each one to see whether it's on the same estate, and adds those that are. It keeps going from each region it finds.

Regions that aren't next to any of the estate's regions, and have no Region Monitor, you add yourself. The estate's page shows each look under What the bot did, and each region found goes in the audit log. If Civitas adds a region you don't want, press the bin (Remove) on its row.

The list

Under the map, Land lists each estate with its regions under it. Press the arrow beside a region to show its parcels, or beside an estate to fold its regions away. Unfold all opens every region at once. Type in the box to show only the estates, regions and parcels whose names match.

Each estate shows:

• Estate manager: Yes if your community's bot is an estate manager on the estate (see below), No if it isn't, and Not checked until a bot has looked. The bot is a manager on all of an estate's regions or none of them, so regions don't have their own.

Each region shows:

• Who's there: how many people are there now, and bots apart, as its Region Monitor last said. Not watched means its Region Monitor hasn't reported lately, and No Region Monitor that there's none there (see Watch a region).
• Health: Good or Slow, from its time dilation (below 0.90 is slow), with its time dilation and FPS.
• Area and prims: its parcels' area and prims added up, and under its name how many parcels it has and when they were last read.

Parcels show their area, prims and who may come in, and whether they're rented. Click a parcel's name to see all its settings, and tick parcels to change them together (see Change parcel settings).

Other regions at the bottom lists regions a Region Monitor watches that aren't on one of your estates, with their parcels. To add one to an estate, press + (Add to an estate) on its row and pick the estate.

See them on the map

The Map at the top of the page shows all your regions on SL's map, across the whole page, with a key to its colors at the bottom right. Drag it to move around, and zoom with the + and - buttons or your mouse wheel. Each region is colored by whether your community's bot is an estate manager on its estate: green if it is, yellow if it isn't, and white until a bot has checked. Click a region to see its estate, how many people are there now, and Teleport there; the list opens it too.

A region with a Region Monitor in it (see Watch a region) also shows how many people are there under its name. Zoom in to see its parcels as the Region Monitor last read them. Point at a parcel to see its name, or click it to open its card:

• Parcel: who owns it, its size, how many prims are in use, who may come in (with how many are on its allowed and ban lists), who may build and run scripts, whether it shows in search, and when the bot last read its settings. Until the bot reads them, the card says it shows only what the Region Monitor sees.
• Rental units: each unit whose rental box stands on the parcel, with its state, tenant, when it runs out, how long it's been rented, its last payment and what the tenant has paid in all (once Civitas has read them through CasperLet), its rent and its prims. A reserved unit says who it's for. You see these when you may see Rentals and the community has it turned on.
• Teleport and Open map, Parcel settings to open all its settings (see Change parcel settings), and See in Rentals when it has units.

The Region Monitor reads the parcels when it starts, after each restart, and once a day.

Make the bot an estate manager

Civitas works on your estates through your community's bot (see Choose your community's bot). In SL, only the estate's owner can make it an estate manager:

1. In the region, open World > Region/Estate and go to the Estate tab.
2. Under Estate Managers, press Add and pick your community's bot.

When you add an estate's first region, the bot goes there to check whether it's an estate manager and reads the estate's lists. The estate's Estate manager column says what it found. After the estate's owner adds the bot, open the estate and press Check the bot (you need permission to manage estates) to have it look again.

The estate's page

Click an estate's name to see its regions, its ban list, allowed residents and allowed groups as the bot last read them in SL, and what the bot was last asked to do there. To ban, allow or eject people, see Ban and allow people on an estate.

Remove an estate or a region

Press the bin (Remove) on the estate's or the region's row, and confirm. Civitas stops managing it. Nothing changes in SL, and you can add it again later.
