Have Civitas create an SL group
Have CMTY, Civitas's own bot, create a new SL group for your community and hand it to you and your community's bot.
You need permission to manage groups (groups.manage).
If your community doesn't have an SL group yet, or a team needs its own, Civitas can create one for you. CMTY, Civitas's own bot, creates the group in SL, invites you and your community's bot, and leaves once you've both joined. You end up owning the group, as if you'd made it yourself.
Before you start
Your community needs a bot first. If it has none, choose one on the Bots page (see Choose your community's bot).
SL charges L$10 to create a group, and Civitas takes it from your community's balance. If the balance is too low, top it up on the Billing page first. If SL doesn't create the group, the L$10 goes back to the balance. While Civitas isn't charging yet, creating a group costs nothing.
Civitas creates one group at a time for each community. Once you and your bot have joined one, you can have it create the next.
Create the group
- Go to SL groups and press Create a group. On a team's page, Create an SL group does the same, with the team's name filled in. The setup guide offers it too.
- Give the group a Name, from 4 to 35 characters. No other SL group can have it, and it can't be changed later.
- Add a Charter and a picture for the group's image, if you like. With a picture, tick I own this picture or have permission to use it. CMTY crops it to a square, the shape SL shows every group's image in, and uploads it to SL first.
- Choose whether anyone can join (Open Enrollment), the Enrollment fee, and whether the group has Mature content.
- Press Create group and confirm.
Join your new group
Once SL has created the group, it shows on SL groups.
- CMTY invites the community's owner into the group's Owners role. Accept the invitation in SL.
- CMTY invites your community's bot into a Platform Officer role with the abilities it needs. The bot joins by itself.
Until you join, the group's page says so. If the invitation got lost, press Send the invitation again. Once you and the bot are both in, CMTY leaves the group, and Civitas manages it through your community's bot like any other group (see Add an SL group).
