Give the bot the abilities it needs
Which SL group abilities the bot needs in each of your groups, what each one is for, and why some buttons stay greyed out.
You give the bot its abilities in SL, in a role you're allowed to change. Pressing Check the bot needs permission to manage groups (groups.manage).
The bot can only do in a group what its SL roles let it. You give it abilities in SL, in the group's Roles tab, the same way you would for a person.
What the bot needs
The group's page lists these under Abilities the bot needs, with what Civitas uses each for:

With these, the bot gives out only the roles it's in itself. To have it give out any role, give it Assign Members to Any Role too.
Abilities for more
Some parts of the group's page need more:
- Roles: Create new Roles, Delete Roles, and Change Role names, titles, descriptions, and whether Role members are publicly revealed. To change what each role can do, Assign and Remove Abilities in Roles. The bot can only give or take away abilities it has itself.
- Settings: Toggle 'Open Enrollment' and change 'Enrollment fee' for membership, and Change Charter, Insignia, and 'Show in search' for the group's identity.
- Chat sync: Change Charter, Insignia, and 'Show in search', so the bot can add the line saying the group's chat is shared to Discord. See Pass chat between SL and Discord.
Until the bot has them, the page says which one it needs where you'd use it.
After you change them
SL tells the bot when its abilities in a group change, and Civitas checks the group again by itself. If the page still lists something as missing, press Check the bot at the top of the group's page.
Civitas won't delete a role the bot is in from the website, because the bot could lose what it can do. Move the bot to another role in SL first.
Your own abilities count too
Civitas never lets you do more in a group through the bot than your avatar could do there in SL. To give out a role, you need that role's abilities in the group yourself. To eject or ban someone, you need the abilities their roles give. The community's owner and the group's owners aren't limited this way.
When a button is greyed out, point at it to see why: something the bot needs, or an ability you don't have.
