Make your community a roleplay community
Turn on the Roleplay suite so members can play in-character (IC) characters and your teams can be departments.
You need the permission to manage the community (communities.manage). The owner has it.
A roleplay community is one that uses the Roleplay suite. Its members play in-character (IC) characters, and its teams can be departments, like a sheriff's office or a hospital. Communities without it never show characters.
Turn on the Roleplay suite
- In your community, go to Settings, under Administration in the side navigation.
- In Roleplay suite, turn on Use the Roleplay suite.
It saves at once, and your community is now a roleplay community. It's free until Civitas starts charging for modules. The setup guide's last step also points here.
What changes
- Characters. Everyone in your community sees Characters under Your account, at the bottom of their side navigation, where they create the characters they play. See Create your characters.
- Departments. Each team can have a department type, like law enforcement or medical, shown with its own icon. See Make a team a department.
- Playing as. People on a team's roster choose which of their characters they play in it, and the roster shows it.
- Forms. Your forms can ask people to choose one of their characters.
Out-of-character (OOC) moderation, like warnings and bans, stays with people's avatars, not their characters.
Turn it off
Turn off Use the Roleplay suite. Members' characters no longer show in your community, and your teams' department types are hidden. Characters belong to their players, so nothing is deleted: turn it back on and they show again.
