Keep the Relay up to date

You don't need to download new versions yourself. The Relay keeps itself up to date and starts with Windows, so your bots are online whenever your computer is.

How updates work

A paired Relay checks cmty.app for a new version a minute after it starts, then every 6 hours. When there's one, it downloads it, logs your bots out, restarts in the tray with the new version and logs them back in.

It installs an update only if it's signed by Civitas. The Relay's settings, from the button at the bottom right of its panel, show its version and how the last check went, like "Up to date".

• An update was refused because it wasn't signed by Civitas. Nothing was installed. Your Relay keeps running the version it has.
• The last update didn't install; it will try again later. Nothing was installed, and it tries again at the next check.

Only a paired Relay gets updates, so pair it first. While your community's Relay subscription isn't active, it doesn't get them either.

Start with Windows, or not

The Relay starts when you sign in to Windows, in the tray. To stop that, untick Start Civitas Relay when I sign in in the Relay's settings. Your bots are then online only while you have the Relay open.

When the Relay says Paused

If your community's Relay subscription isn't active, the Relay logs its bots out and shows Paused, and the shared Civitas bot covers for them. Renew it on cmty.app; the Relay checks again every 10 minutes and logs your bots back in.

If it was removed on cmty.app

If someone removed the Relay on the Bots page, it stops its bots and goes back to Pair with your community. Pair it again with a new code to use it. See Pair the Relay with your community.

Uninstall it

Uninstall Civitas Relay from Windows' Installed apps. It stops starting with Windows. Its settings stay on your computer, in case you install it again. Uninstalling doesn't take the Relay out of your community; remove it on the Bots page too.
