Pair the Relay with your community
Connect the Civitas Relay on your computer to your community with a one-time code from the Bots page.
Only the community's owner can pair a Relay, because the owner is the operator of its bots.
Pairing tells the Relay which community its bots work for. You get a code on the website and type it into the Relay.
Get a pairing code
- Go to Bots in your community's navigation.
- Under On your computer, with the Civitas Relay, press Pair a Relay.
- The page shows a code and the time it works until. It works once, for 10 minutes.
Enter it in the Relay
- Open the Civitas Relay from its icon in the tray. Before it's paired, it shows Pair with your community.
- Type the code in Pairing code.
- In Name for this computer, keep your computer's name or type another. It's shown on the Bots page, so you can tell your Relays apart.
- Press Pair.
The top of the Relay's panel now says Connected. Next, add your bot. On the website, press Done under the code.
If the Relay says the code is wrong, already used or expired, press Pair a Relay again for a new one.
See your Relays
Your Relays, on the Bots page, lists each paired Relay as Online or Offline, with when it was paired and when it was last seen.
Remove a Relay
- On the website, press Remove… beside the Relay under Your Relays and confirm. It's locked out and its bots leave your community.
- In the Relay, press the settings button at the bottom right of its panel, then Unpair… and Unpair. Your bots log out and leave your community, and they stay listed in the Relay.
If no bot of your own is left, the shared Civitas bot takes over. To use the Relay again, pair it with a new code.
