Add your bot to the Relay

Once the Relay is paired, add the SL account it runs as your community's bot. The password is stored encrypted on your computer and only ever sent to Second Life. Civitas never sees it.

Before you start

Register the bot's SL account with Linden Lab as a scripted agent. You're its operator, so its messages count toward your own daily limit of 5,000, across all your bots.

Add the bot

1. Click the Civitas Relay icon in the tray to open its panel. When it has no bots, the panel asks for one straight away; otherwise press Add a bot at the bottom of the panel.
2. Type the bot's SL Username, like harborbot.resident, and its Password.
3. Press Add bot.

The bot logs in within a few seconds and joins your community. The Relay shows it as Logging in…, then Online in the region it's in. If it shows Can't log in, the line under it says why.

On your community's Bots page, the bot shows as "Your bot, on the Civitas Relay", with your Relay's name.

Put the bot in your SL groups

Your community now works through your own bot instead of the shared one. Invite it into each of your SL groups in a role with the abilities Civitas needs; Civitas accepts the invitations as soon as they arrive. The SL groups page shows which groups are waiting for it. See Add your SL group.

Once your bot has taken over a group, the shared Civitas bot leaves it.

Check it works

On the Bots page, press Send me a test IM. Your bot IMs you in Second Life, and Recent jobs shows how it went. The Relay's Activity lists what your bots have done too.

Change or remove a bot

To remove a bot, press … beside it in the Relay, choose Remove this bot…, then Remove. It logs out within a few seconds and leaves your community. To change a bot's password, remove it and add it again.
