Use the RP HUD
Wear the RP HUD in Second Life to go on and off duty, choose the character you play and see what your community's modules have for you.
Any member of a roleplay community. It needs the Roleplay suite.
The RP HUD is a menu you wear in Second Life. It shows the same things as your Civitas pages, so you can change them without leaving the game.
Get the HUD
- Open the community and go to Your membership, under People in the side navigation.
- In the RP HUD panel, press Send me the HUD.
- A Civitas bot offers you two things in Second Life: "Civitas - RP HUD" (the HUD itself) and its script, "Civitas - RP HUD" with your community's name. Accept both.
- Rez the HUD, drop the script into it (Edit, then Content), and take it back into your inventory.
- Wear it on a HUD attachment point. HUD Top Right is a good one: a small Menu button shows there and opens the screen below it.
It's made for you and this community, and only answers to your avatar. If the community changes the HUD, an older copy tells you a newer one is out. Ask for it again from the same page.
What it does
Touch Menu to open the HUD's screen. It shows a title, some text and up to six buttons (More shows the rest), with Back, Close and Refresh along the bottom. Each button opens a page of text and buttons:
- Duty: the teams you're on, whether you're on duty in each, and your hours this week. Press On: or Off: and the team name to go on or off duty. Going off duty logs the shift, as it does on the website.
- Character: the characters you've made. Press one to play it. It's set on every team you're on. Make characters on the Characters page.
Other parts of Civitas add their own pages to the menu as they come. When your community's dispatch or warrants need you, the HUD can page you: it says "Page:" and the message in your chat. The text above the HUD shows your character, rank, team and whether you're on duty.
If the HUD was only offered as a script, it shows the same pages as menus in chat instead. Rez any prim, drop the script in and wear it.
If the HUD says it won't answer, you've left the community or its Roleplay suite is off. A community's managers can also disable a HUD on the In-world objects page.
