Ask Civitas for help, or report a community
Ask Civitas staff for help, or report a community, a person or something on the website, and follow their replies.
Civitas staff answer requests for help and reports on the website, on the Support page. To get there, press the ? at the top right: Contact Civitas starts a request, and Your requests opens the page once you've sent one.
Ask for help
- On Support, press Get help.
- Choose What do you need help with?, like SL groups, Bots or Something isn't working.
- If it's about one of your communities, choose it in Which community (optional).
- Give it a Subject, and say in What do you need what you were doing, what you expected and what happened instead.
- To add screenshots, press Add pictures: up to 5 PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP files, up to 5 MB each.
- Press Send.
If you own or help manage a community, Get help from Civitas at the top of its overview opens the same form with the community filled in. Never send a password: Civitas staff will never ask for one.
Report a community
- On a community's public page, press Report this community to Civitas at the bottom.
- On a community's overview, press Report this community. Every member but its owner sees it.
- On Support, press Report something, choose A community in What are you reporting?, and type its web address in Which community.
The first two open the report form with the community filled in. Choose What's wrong?, give it a Subject, say in What happened what happened, where and when (in SLT), and press Send the report.
Report a person or something on the website
- On Support, press Report something.
- In What are you reporting?, choose A person or Something on the website.
- For a person, type their avatar's UUID or the link to their SL profile in Who. Civitas shows whose it is under the box. For something on the website, paste its address in Where is it?.
- If it happened in a community, type its web address in In which community (optional).
- Choose What's wrong?, fill in Subject and What happened, and press Send the report.
Reports about a child's safety, threats of violence or someone at risk of harming themselves go to the top of Civitas staff's queue. If someone is in danger right now, contact your local emergency services first. For something that happened in Second Life itself, also report it to Linden Lab from your viewer.
Only Civitas staff see who sent a report. If you report a person in a community, Civitas staff can pass your report to that community's moderators as a case. The moderators then see that you reported it, and Civitas staff tell you in a reply.
Follow and reply
Your requests and reports are listed on Support, with a New reply badge when Civitas staff have answered. You also get a notification.
- Open one to read the conversation and write back.
- Press Close it when you don't need anything more.
- Writing back within 14 days of it closing reopens it. After that, send a new one.
